walking down kensington road, on the edge of
kensington gardens |
dinner at archipelago... a moody & eclectic restaurant
bordering bloomsbury & soho. the decor is "colonial indiana jones," full
of knick-knacks from around the world. everything in the restaurant is for
sale, although when we inquired about a candle-holder in the shape of a beetle,
our server told us the owners are usually very reluctant to part with anything.
|
everything is presented in scrolls, from the menu to the bill. |

enjoying fruity cocktails & wine with the french-thai cuisine |
after-dinner drinks at the metropolitan hotel, one
of the "hidden" places in the city that serve after midnight. when the dj played
prince, peter and i
started dancing with the rest of the "euros." |
stopping for fish & chips and pints of guinness & old speckled hen in covent
garden, a vast outdoor area in the theater district. it's crowded during
all hours, full of tourists, terraced restaurants, wine bars and food markets. |

stone-faced guard |
the best taxi drivers in the world... so courteous, so friendly, always
safe. they will never rip you off like the cabbies do in italy. |
THE BEST INDIAN FOOD we've ever eaten. chor bizarre london is partial
towards kashmiri cuisine and is the only restaurant outside of the kashmir
valley that has access to the secrets of 'wazwan' - the legendary
ceremonial feast of 36 courses. |

we like to watch movies, even in other countries. we're the only people in
the theater for the 4:30pm showing of "mysterious skin."

walking the millennium bridge towards the tate modern, my favorite museum in
london |
view from the 2nd floor balcony of the tate, looking out towards the city.
the tate was recently renovated by the famous swiss architects, herzog & de
meuron, who also designed the ultra cool winery dominus in yountville. |

monday night:
pre-dinner drinks at vertigo, a champagne-only lounge on the 42nd floor of
tower 42. peter's co-worker gave us a tip: views of the city are
unrivaled elsewhere. afterwards, an upmarket dinner at gordon ramsay @
claridge's hotel... |
